New Beginnings

I am so glad to be able to join you as we welcome in another year together!  I love the start of the year; there is always a level of excitement and anticipation about all of the new days in our family, in our church, in our work, in our neighborhood, in our ministries, and most importantly in our walk with Jesus.  A new church member told me he was excited to see how God has changed him over the past many months. He said, “I have grown a lot. I am really excited about where God is going to continue to take me.”

I pray that we will all have this attitude as we move into 2018.  Those who participated in last year’s January Prayer and Fasting found it to be very rewarding. We want to continue in finding our dependence on the Lord through fasting and prayer in the new year.  Starting January 4, we will join together once again to pray and fast corporately.  We will conclude January 24 with a Faith Family Feast. We will gather each night from 5:30 until 6:30 at the church for a time of directed prayer and Scriptures. Due to our First Kids (Children’s Ministry) programs on Wednesday nights, we will gather from 6:30 until 7:30

As a Reminder

In January of 2017, we had a three week sermon series that answered questions regarding the What, How & Why of Fasting & Prayer. Feel free to go to our online sermon archives and refresh your minds as we prepare for this invaluable demonstration of devotion and calling upon the Lord for more of Him and less of us.  Here are some reasons why one might enter into fasting and prayer for a season of life:

  • I fast to return to the Lord. (Joel 2:12-13)
  • I fast to fight temptation in my life. (Matthew 4:1-3)
  • I fast to strengthen my worship as I wait for the Lord. (Luke 2:36-38)
  • I fast to show my grief to God. (Judges 20:26)
  • I fast to seek God’s direction for my life. (Judges 20:27-28)

Love,
