Seeking God.   Sharing Life.   Serving Others.

Wouldn’t it be nice to know what we all should be doing? I mean this life has endless possibilities. With all of these options and possibilities, how can we make sense of the options? How can we, as a church, move forward together and feel like we are on the right track? What we need in life is a set of measures to help us decide if we are, in fact, on the right path on this journey.  This is where our directive statement comes into play. These few words give us all an opportunity to measure our personal life, as well as the church’s focus in light of our the mandates that Jesus Christ has given each of us.

Seeking God.

Jesus answered the question, which is the most important law or rule to follow, with the simple truth: we should love God with all of our heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37-38).

We have more we can learn and apply with God’s way to our way. I wholeheartedly believe that we should seek God, and know more of God. When we know more of God, we will grow in our love for God, which in turn develops our heart to want to obey God more.

When we seek God in every way possible with all of our heart, soul, and mind, then we can all seek more of God. Whether we are just starting our journey together or have sought out His way for the last 60 years, God has more in store for us. Let’s seek God together.

Sharing Life.

12This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. 14You are my friends if you do what I command you (John 15:12-14).

Jesus chose 12 people to share in His life. He showed these men how to love through the ups and downs, as well as the good and the bad. He shared every instance of His life with these men. His instruction to them was to love those they invested in to the point of death. Sound familiar? We want to live as Jesus instructed. Therefore, we find a few in which we can share life together. In this shared experience we develop people we can trust, become real and transparent with, as well as turn to in hard times. We want to help other Christians here at FBC to share life. For, we are not meant to simply sit beside one another, but share life together (see Colossians 3:12-17).

Serving Others.

Whether we read a passage like John 13 in which Jesus washed the feet of the disciples, or we open the truth of Matthew 25 where Jesus talks of how we can serve Him by serving others, we realize that Jesus means business when He instructs His followers to follow His example and His instruction. We have an opportunity to show the love Jesus gave us to those around us. We are chosen to accomplish a great work in the Name of Jesus and for Jesus’ sake! I am so honored and humbled to be used by God to do His work; whether in particular ministries or in the daily opportunities He gives me to see a need and be His helping hands to serve others.

I am thankful for this church as we Seek God together, Share Life together, and Serve Others together.
