Waiting and Walking

The Word of the Lord is strong. His Word is trustworthy. You just have to trust and believe. God will provide. God will prevail.

These are statements of faith that we say when others are in need of help. Sometimes we are in situations where we are waiting to see a way out…a rescue from God.

What does God’s word say to His children when we are in such times? Psalms 37:7 says, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.” These simple words within this short verse say a lot to us, doesn’t it?

It’s simple. We are to remind our hearts, souls, and minds that God is in control. He is Lord. This means He is the overseer of our life. God directs our steps. We are instructed to be calm and wait. The hardest thing to do in life sometimes is wait or to do nothing! I know I received an “amen” on that statement. However, God’s Word tells us to wait patiently for Him. The implication is that He will act; God will direct. But, until He speaks we wait. By the way, we are not just to wait with fidgeting…waiting with worry…waiting with anger…waiting with pacing, but patiently waiting.

This is useful in all of our lives on a day to day basis but in the life of our church right now, it is vital. It is asked, “Now what?” “What do we do now?” “What do we do as we progress through this process concerning our building project?”

My response: Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.

How do we do this?

1) We pray as a church for His voice and direction. 2) We support the church’s call to Love God, Love Others, Help Others Love God. 3) We wait as our Church leadership joins together discussing possibilities.

Our church leadership has many faces: Staff, Pastor’s Council, Deacons, Building Committee, and Trustees.

This will be a fruitful time to sit around and share personal thoughts, the church body’s response, the current scenario, and how we will proceed as a unified church body.

I know we will be honoring God in our actions from church leaders, church members, and the whole church body.

Until then, we find ourselves patiently still; pursuing His direction.
