Faith Family, let me begin by telling you how much I missed being with you Sunday. The flu is not something I want to see ever again. I will sure pray harder now for those who have it! I want to thank David Thurman for standing in the gap for me while I was down. I have already heard from individuals who expressed to me what a fantastic job he did and how the Spirit revealed, through David, things they had never realized. What a comfort to know that you were in such good hands.
I have a few new things that I want to let you know about. First, I am so excited about all that is happening in our church right now. What an exciting time! As you will see in this newsletter, we will soon be offering three new options for Wednesday nights. We will offer Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace. Thomas and July Burnum have graciously volunteered to lead the class and I know they will do a fantastic job. There are many testimonies within our own church of families who's lives were changed by what God taught them through this class.
We will also be offering men’s and women’s Bible studies. Frances Phillips will be leading the ladies in a study on prayer, “The Prayer Saturated Family.” Take a look at the introduction from the book: “As we experience an unprecedented cultural attack on biblical values, it has never been more important for families to pray together. But busy schedules, digital distractions, and a general lack of enthusiasm make this vital goal difficult. How do we change the focus of our families from the world to the Lord, and the mood of our households from one of frustration to one of peace and joy? In The Prayer-Saturated Family, Cheryl Sacks gives you step-by-step guidance and real-world tips on how to experience the atmosphere of heaven in your home by praying together regularly as a family.” Sounds like something we all need.
Dave Owens, Jr. will be leading the Men’s Class: “The 33 Series.” This is a video series that gives men a vision for manhood as modeled by Jesus in His 33 years on Earth. What better example of what it means to be an authentic man? We will continue to have our traditional Bible study and prayer in the Sanctuary for those who choose to be with me.
Lastly, I want to issue a call to prayer and fasting for our Building and Finance Committees as they work diligently on the next steps for our church. We pray they they will discern God’s direction for our future at First Baptist. We want nothing more or less than God’s perfect will. Have a blessed week and I can’t wait to be with you again next week.
