Our Pastor

After a diligent search and much prayer, the Pastor's Search Committee recommended Dr. Jon Hathcock to the congregation on August 21, 2016, and he presided over all three services. Over 98% of our three packed services approved, and Dr. Hathcock has been elected as our new pastor. He will begin his tenure at First Baptist in October 2016.

Dr. Jon Hathcock gave his heart and life to Jesus Christ at Judson Baptist Church in Nashville, TN in 1989 and in August of 2006 he was ordained into the ministry. Today, his desire is to be obedient to God's call on his life as a minister in the local church.

Jon graduated from MTSU in 2003 with a major in Economics and a minor in Psychology. In 2007 he received his Masters in Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. In 2012 he graduated with his Doctorate of Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Jon and his wife, Stephanie, have two boys: Luke who is eight and Micah who is five. Stephanie is a nationally certified Behavior Analyst and Therapist and has worked with individuals with special needs for over 15 years.

Jon enjoys target shooting, fishing, college football, reading, and most of all spending time with his wife and boys. His greatest passion is to help people grasp how their lives can bring glory to God.

Jon's ministry objectives are:

  • To equip and serve the body of Christ.
  • To encourage Christians to develop their gifts, talents, and God-given abilities.
  • To be relevant and open to new ministry ideas that will enable Christians to become disciples of Christ Jesus.
  • To lead people to realize who God has designed them to be and find their place of ministry in the local church.
  • To encourage growth of the local church by preaching and teaching the Word to every believer.
  • To do whatever it takes to share the gospel while serving in a local church.
  • To give Leadership of the overall vision of the local church.
  • To work with a team of ministers in a local church setting to empower and equip believers.
